Love With Grace™: Comfort

“You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” ~ Alan Alda

The Ultimate Oxymoron: Comfortable Challenge…

Because I am just taking note of what is inspiring my notetaking these days, my thoughts turn to what I truly crave…

You might already feel the tension from the pictures I have been using to anchor these thoughts on Love With Grace™.

Sometimes moody.

There is no question that I lived and died by the insightful quote above.

Jan and I long ago left the city of our comfort and adventured out into the wilderness of intuition and excitement!

We pushed our comfort zone way out to the point where it was not only uncomfortable, but it really hurt.

To live the life I love requires me to rethink this matrix of values.

A comfortable old shoe feels a lot better at my age than a sleek new Italian creation that rivals the best design of mankind: a beautiful pair of Artioli Milano Tutone’s!

I want to be comfortable but challenged.

Maybe at the same time.

Many men would think this entire train of thought is off the tracks! They will see this as a binary choice: Be challenged… or be comfortable.

At least for the moment, this is something I need to at least think about.

I am not at all comfortable being single.

I am highly challenged right now and would like to find this new love of my life in a spot where she is comfortable, but loves challenge.

As I said many posts ago, it is not possible for me to duplicate or replicate Jan.

This is one time in my life when I wish I was at StarGate Atlantas where The Replicators created the perfect woman, from Commander Elizabeth Weir — a living ghost of the host!

No, I do not want a cheap or even expensive reproduction or substitute of my incredible wife.

I want to be challenged in this, my last season of life.

But I want to be comfortable too.

No, not Comfortably Numb.

This, of course, is where the Authenticity in GRACE comes in. I want to be Authentic, and my love wants to be Authentic.

Maybe the challenge is in making each other comfortable?

Grace Note: Confusion and ambiguity are the natural states until you apply the positives that provide clarity and coherence. How long have you remained in a confused state? Are you, Comfortably Numb?

LYRICS: Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb

[Pre-Chorus 2: David Gilmour]
There is no pain, you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move, but I can’t hear what you’re saying

When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look, but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown, the dream is gone

[Chorus: David Gilmour] I have become comfortably numb
